Energiespeicher delivered fast

I ordered an Energiespeicher for my layout and it got here pretty quick, took about a week to get to my place in Ohio. The packaging was good, no damage or anything. Installation was straightforward, even for me who isn't super technical with these things. It just plugged in and worked. The model trains run a lot smoother now, no more flickering lights on the older engines. I'd say it was a solid purchase and I'm happy with it overall.

Lok-Decoder purchase was great!

I bought a Lok-Decoder from Zimo last week and it arrived in five days, which was faster than I thought it would be to reach me in Arizona. It was easy to install in my model, and the functions worked perfectly right away. I'm so happy with how everything came together. I'll definitely check their store first for future purchases. My model railway has never sounded so good!

do these Zimo decoders play nice with Märklin's digital system? got an old Märklin setup I'm slowly bringing into the modern age.

B Beth B. 4 weeks ago
Yep, Zimo decoders are generally compatible with Märklin Digital. They support DCC which is pretty universal now. You should be fine.

K Kate 4 weeks ago
Totally, they're designed to work with most DCC systems, including Märklin. No issues there.

hey, trying to figure out which decoder fits my old HO scale engine. Any tips on how to tell?

T Todd R. 1 month ago
You usually gotta check the space inside your loco's body. Some decoders are super tiny, others are chunkier. Also look at the interface it has, like if it's got an 8-pin or PluX socket.

Yeah, if you open it up, you can see if there's enough room. Zimo has a bunch of different sizes. Their website usually has dimensions for each type.

What's the difference between MS and MX decoders? Trying to decide which series to go with.

R Rachel 1 month ago
MS decoders are the newer generation, generally. They often have more advanced features, better sound processing, and sometimes smaller footprints. MX are still good, but MS is usually the way to go if you want the latest tech.

M Megan 4 weeks ago
MS is the current line, basically. They have more memory for sounds, better processing, and usually more function outputs. MX are older but still solid if you find a good deal and don't need all the latest bells and whistles.

how long does warranty usually run on these decoders? just bought one, wanna know what to expect.

R Raj W. 1 month ago
I think it's usually two years, like standard for electronics. But you'd want to check the specific warranty card that came with yours or on their official site, just to be sure.

Afaik, it's pretty standard, usually two years. Never had to use it myself though, my Zimo decoders have been rock solid.

Thinking of upgrading my sound setup. Zimo or ESU for sound decoders? Which one's better in your experience?

M Mike 4 weeks ago
Oh man, that's like asking Ford vs Chevy! Both are really good. Zimo's sounds are super detailed, especially for steam. ESU is solid too, sometimes easier to program for newbies.

G Greg Patel 3 weeks ago
I've used both. Zimo's sound projects often feel a bit more 'authentic' to me, but ESU has a massive library. It really comes down to the specific loco and what kind of sound profile you're after. Can't go wrong with either honestly.

Does Zimo ever do like, direct coupon codes or sales on their site? Or is it all through retailers?

N Noor Walsh 1 month ago
Nah, pretty much always through the hobby shops. I've never seen a direct code from Zimo themselves. You might find a deal at like, Intermodellbau or something though.

D Derek 1 month ago
Yeah, your best bet for a discount is usually checking what your local model train store offers, or if they have any bundle deals with other stuff. Zimo themselves don't really do promo codes.

I'm looking for a dealer in the US that carries Zimo. Any recommendations for online stores or places that have a good selection?

D Derek 1 month ago
Most of the bigger online hobby shops specializing in European model trains carry Zimo. Just do a quick search for 'Zimo USA dealer' and you'll find a few. Often it's smaller, specialized shops.
6
T Todd T. 1 month ago
Yeah, there aren't many direct Zimo US stores since they mostly go through dealers. Check out some of the European model train importers here, they usually stock Zimo. Or ask your local hobby shop, they might be able to order it.

Is there a good time of year to look for deals on Zimo stuff? Like, holiday sales or something?

C Cleo Lindqvist 3 weeks ago
Winter for sure, around Christmas. Also, if you can hit up one of the big model train shows like Dortmund or Leipzig, retailers sometimes have show-specific discounts.
6
M Mark Carter 3 weeks ago
Yeah, I always keep an eye out around the major model railway shows. That's when some of the dealers clear stock or do special show pricing. Winter is also a good shout.
